The offshore security network – results for 2016
In 2016, following the ministerial decree of 30th October 2015, which defined the separation of functions related to the issuing of mining stocks from operations related to technical management, checking, supervision and security (including environmental), ‘DGS UNMIG’ strengthened its commitment to guarantee the highest level of security in the hydrocarbons sector, through the consolidation of the network of agreements it signed with research institutes, universities and state bodies.
On the 15th December 2016 (in the Auditorium Guido Martinotti, U12, Via Vizzola 5. University of Milan-Bicocca, Milan), the Directorate-General for Security will be pleased to present the main results of the activities undertaken with these partners, including the prototype of an innovative ‘indicators system’ for upstream safety. Using simple numerical indexes the system is designed to monitor, the safety of Italian offshore, upstream activities and to improve awareness and knowledge, in the surrounding areas, of the quality of the work done.
In this delicate transitional phase towards a ‘low carbon’ economy, it is essential to discuss which are the best instruments to guarantee maximum respect for the environment and the public. The representatives of associations, local administrations, and businesses will participate in a round table dedicated to the objectives of; environmental safety and sustainable development, in relation to the activities of the upstream industry in Italy.
